What is coaching?

At its heart, coaching operates on the belief that an individual has all their own answers already inside themselves. A coach’s job is to ask the right questions based on what they hear to allow those answers to emerge. It’s also described as a ‘powerful conversation’ between two individuals which lays the groundwork for self-awareness and realisation.

Coaching at Your Shift

My view of coaching is no different. I’ve been coached and I’m now a professionally trained coach myself so have seen first-hand the impact and results coaching can deliver.

However, in a crowded coaching market, my style and ethos is decisive and action-focused. My clients have a shift in mind – or else we can shape and define it together before we start any coaching arrangement – and I focus my sessions on my clients building their story and realisations as they go. This requires energy and flexibility on both parts. Sessions are upbeat, purposeful and with clear actions and reflections to take away.

“The coaching helped me to manage the overwhelming feeling and anxiety of starting a new job. Now, I can say that I am a lot more confident in myself, ability and I'm excelling in my new role which has led to a permanent position.”

I’m a big believer in gaining clarity and having a plan to work to. That’s why I work with you to create your own From > To statement. This asks you to articulate in your own words what you want your shift to be and what you want to work towards. This maximises the focus of our sessions. This may alter as we go, of course, and that’s fine. But it does serve to focus attention.
